Exactly, Plinko!

I think that one way to give confidence to staff is to let them know that you have worries. If they see that you're worried, too, but still carry on with authority they will know that it's ok.

Sometimes it's also valuable for them to see that you have worries and you don't let your emotions carry you away. Camp is intense but we always have a job to do.

I really liked what you had to say about 'experimental culture.'

This really stood out to me as I prepare for being a classroom teacher (and interview for teaching positions). I really hope that I can develop the type of classroom where students feel safe enough and have the proper tools to experiment their way through situations that involve problem solving.

This entire segment really hit home the importance of developing confidence in summer camp staff (which inevitably will trickle down to campers). Encouraging staff to take chances, believe in themselves, and provide positive reinforcement will go a long way.

Great episode Zoic & (yoyo)Joe.

Hi Zoic...This is a great letter. The one letter that spoke true to me was F. I think the F for Firm Handshake defines Glen Mhor and has allowed many of us to succeed with confidence in life.

We actually did Alumni letters for Residence Life Staff at SAIT in Calgary for the first time this year, and it was fairly successful. We hope to make this a tradition for years to come!

Thanks for posting this and sharing! Helpful to start the discussion during staff training this summer- I particularly appreciate the practical questions about how we as camp professionals can go from here.
